Rules Kata & Kumite

Miami Open Karate International Championship
KATA
- Simultaneous execution for all divisions except the WKF
- All Beg & must perform Kihon Kata and can repeat the same Kata.
- All Intermediates cannot perform advanced Kata (refer to the list), can repeat the Kata in the all
- All advanced level must perform a different Kata in the It must be different than in the previous round
- If / Adv. Combined, they can repeat the same kata in the all rounds.
- WKF divisions must preform a different kata in each
- DO NOT disqualify any /Nov. divisions under any circumstances.
- If any competitors in this category comes to halt, have them repeat the kata then proceed to Hantei.
- Disqualification due to the lack of a bow(s) will be only fro WKF/Elite
- Participation medals are ONLY for those who did not place in Kata or
- All divisions will have two third place finalists in Kata and Kumite
- Beginner and Novice will not have repechage.
- All Advanced and Intermediate categories will have repechage.
KUMITE
- Only licensed referees can function as the center referee or corner
- Only licensed judges can work as corner
- Judges can only indicate points and Jogai, unless the referee says
- Referees CAN NOT asks for point
- Fights last 1½ minute for all Age divisions up to
- Fights last 2 minutes for 12 to 17 years old Advanced and Elite female and
- Fights last 3 minutes for 18-34 Advanced and Elite female and male
- All hand to face contact must be penalized for everyone under 17 years of
- Skin touch is allowed for those 18 and over with
- “Light touch” head kicks are permitted for all
- All competitors must wear shin pads in addition to the
- In youth divisions, if the shin pads are too big, they are allowed to just use the foot
- No jewelry is Headgear is optional for all divisions except those in WKF/Elite divisions.
- All Advanced and Intermediate categories will have repechage.
- Beginner and Novice categories will not have repechage
